Funeral Services Held Sunday For James Leon Johnson
Funeral services were held at 2 30 p m Sunday for James Leon Johnson who died in a truck accident on highway 160 four miles north of Bells Thursday night. Rev W W Adcock led the services with Revs E P Wootten and J A Cunningham assisting. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his widow and son James Kent Johnson of Whitewright a sister Miss Willadean Johnson of Oakland California two brothers Carlton Johnson of Whitewright J J Johnson of Oakland Calif and a half brother Edward Melugin of Savoy. Johnson was born July 25 1906 in Duncan Oklahoma married Lorene Kent in 1926 came to Whitewright six years ago and was local agent for an oil company. The church was filled despite heavy rain.

Home Hit by Lightning Injures Dixon Family at Ray Farm
Miss Pauline Dixon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Dixon, survived a lightning strike Sunday morning at their Ray farm home five miles southwest of Whitewright. The blast knocked her unconscious briefly, shattered nineteen window lights, damaged the roof, splintered a yard tree, and melted windshield glass on an adjacent automobile. No lasting injuries were reported.
