Dr Geo K Stephens appointed chair of Whitewright Navy relief campaign with a 75 dollar quota for Whitewright and nearby areas. Grayson County total 2500 dollars. campaign runs a week starting Monday. Donations accepted at First National Bank with R A Gillett and Roby Childress assisting. The Navy Relief Society, formed in 1904, aids Navy families and aims to prevent hardship for widows and orphans. Pearl Harbor increased calls, donors will be listed.

Farmers Meeting Tuesday Night At High School

Colored School News Announces Week of Activities
During May 1 to May 8 the Grammar School and community will host events. A seventh grade one act play Trouble at Coon Holler School is at 8:30 p m May 8 at the Colored Baptist Church with reserved seating for white friends. The primary program is May 4 at 8:30 p m, and the annual commencement is May 6 at the Colored Methodist Church with 15 cent admission. The baccalaureate is May 3 at 3 p m at the Methodist Church. Record Food Stamp Issuance Hits High in March 1942
In Grayson County food stamps totaled 307407.50 from last June to March 31 1942. Sherman office issued 155975 Denison 56641.50 Van Alstyne 38825 and a mobile unit 61029. March issuance reached 40387 including 22978 orange stamps and 17409.50 surplus items. By month end 2311 cases with 8832 people certified and 828 cases with 7150 people participated at least once.
