Whitewright PTA plans a barbecue at the elementary school cafeteria on April 30 to raise money for fans. Adults pay a dollar and children 50 cents. menu includes barbecued beef, potatoes, beans, slaw, pies, tea and coffee.
Grayson County Democratic chairman R C Slagle Jr announces precinct conventions will be at 2 p m on May 7 at regular voting places. County convention set for May 14 in the 15th District courtroom. Candidates must file first expenditures seven days before the first primary. Attendees must show stamped poll tax receipts marked Democrat or Republican for participation.
Mrs. Walter House 81 died 6 15 p m Monday at her son's home G A House in Whitewright after a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday in Grants Chapel Arkansas with burial in Grants Chapel Cemetery. She was born July 25 1878, married Walter House in 1898 in Bonnerdale Arkansas and was a Free Holiness Church member. Survivors include three sons G A House W W House and W C House, three sisters and three brothers, seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are held today for Jesse Thomas Wrenn 87 at Savoy Methodist Church. He died Wednesday at a Savoy rest home after a three year illness. Born December 6, 1872, he farmed near Whitewright before retirement and married Maude DeBerry in 1898. Survivors include three sons Coy and Marvin Wrenn and T L Wrenn, three sisters and four grandchildren.
Claud R. Badgett a former Bells druggist died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday at his home in Silverton He was buried at Quitqua on Wednesday Surviving are his wife and three daughters including Mrs Frank A King of Houston a former Whitewright resident He was a first cousin once removed of Miss May Badgett of Whitewright their fathers were first cousins
Mrs. Houston Darwin coordinates a Camp Fire Leaders group meeting monthly to plan Blue Birds and CampFire Girls activities. Officers include Mrs. Darwin, coordinator, Mrs. C. P. Dawson treasurer, and Mrs. C. C. Hennig reporter. Two Blue Bird groups are formed with leaders Mrs. Holloway and Mrs. White, and Mrs. Roberson and Mrs. Hennig.

Harry Lander will take 35 or 40 boys to Bonham on Saturday April 23 to compete in the Junior Olympics meet sponsored by the Bonham Kiwanis Club. James England and Dan Hennig will compete in the regional meet at Denton, with winners advancing to the Texas State meet in Austin May 5 and 6.
Democratic leaders in the House announce a new election year farm bill blending price supports with self imposed controls on production. The plan raises wheat price supports to 85 percent of parity, cuts planting allotments by 25 percent, and allows use of surplus wheat to offset lost income. President Eisenhower vetoed a similar measure last year.
Peace Justice Clark Benton ruled Noel Grammer's shotgun death an accident after an investigation. Grammer was found dead beside a 12 gauge shotgun on his farm in Lamasco Community near Bonham on April 13. The Grammers had just bought the farm, and his wife had left the house minutes earlier as he moved guns from a pickup.
