The Par ent-Teacher Association held a meeting at the Grammar School auditorium electing officers for the new year. Elected were Mrs. Guy Hamilton president and several vice-presidents, with Miss Mac Reed treasurer and Miss Sallie Hamilton corresponding secretary. The district meeting delegate slate was announced for Commerce in April 2022. The next meeting is set for High School on Tuesday May 3.

District League Meet In Sherman Saturday
The Fifth District Interscholastic League meet will be held in Sherman at Austin College on Saturday April 16 with J A Rudd as general director. Five counties Cooke Grayson Fannin Collin and Lamar will be represented by literary and athletic teams. McKinney will send a strong set of speakers and is noted for its mile relay team. Farmersville last year won the county meet and beat Sherman in the final race. Paris Gainesville Denison and Bonham will also send teams with strong literary and athletic programs.

Steam shovel uncovers rattlers in tunnel near Childress
A steam shovel digging the South Plains railroad tunnel near Childress uncovered 150 rattlesnakes in a nest. Workers fled as the shovel pierced the nest and the operator, initially thought ill, watched the snakes emerge unharmed in the cool air. The reptiles, still in winter quarters at 3,000 feet, stirred as spring approached.
Lightning Funk in Denison Home Causes Cabinet Damage
The West residence at 1124 West Main street in Denison was struck by lightning on Monday. The kitchen cabinet sustained partial wreckage with scattered dishes and torn soap wrappers. A blue-burned glass jar flew across the room as smoke filled the area but no fire occurred and the exterior showed no damage.
Treasure Hunt Postponed by Rain sponsors
The treasure hunt announced for Thursday night has been postponed until Saturday night due to rain. If weather cooperates it will be held Saturday. if not, it will be held next week. Sponsored by Presbyterian and Methodist women. The item ends with a quip about Eskimos.
Grayson County Could Win 2.5 Million Road Aid
The State Highway Commission tentatively approves a 2.5 million dollar Grayson County road project, contingent on a 2 million bond vote to cover debts and fund the plan. State aid is not guaranteed without county approval and a federal share. State engineer calls the project among the most important, affecting Highways 5 6 and 9.

March Egg-Laying Contest Sets Record in Texas
March results from the Tenth Texas National Egg-Laying Contest at A and M College of Texas show a 75.5 percent monthly production, the best in ten years. High pen honors went to M A Lee of Seadrift for 271 eggs with Barred Plymouth Rocks, while Golden Rule Poultry Farm of Bryan topped the month with 31 eggs by a Barred Plymouth Rock hen. The farm also leads all-time with 116 eggs from Barred Plymouth Rocks and 136 eggs by a single hen to date, as 832 hens produced 19,424 eggs in March.

A cyclone near Denison Oklahoma injures Pete Harkins his wife and a brother all Needmore residents. Their home and others are wrecked as the storm sweeps two miles wide across the district damaging several houses. The Needmore school is slightly damaged.

Mrs. Isabelle Sears Dies in Whitewright Home
Mrs. Isabelle Sears wife of the late Henry C. Sears died at her home Monday evening near Whitewright after years of declining health. Born December 16 1844 in Joplin Missouri she moved to Texas as a girl and later joined the Methodist Church. Survived by eight children three daughters and five sons among them Dr. R. L. Sears Bascom Sears and Mrs A E Randle. Funeral at the Methodist Church with Reverends Cowling Fender and Kirkpatrick officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.
