Lucian Andrews, executive secretary of the National Rural Letter Carriers Benefit Association, has opened an office in the First National Bank building to conduct executive affairs from this point. The Houston based group formed about eighteen months ago provides life insurance for rural mail carriers and has written fifteen million dollars in policies with over one hundred thousand dollars paid to beneficiaries.

Grayson County Grand Jury Indicts 116 Felonies
The Grayson County grand jury adjourned after a multi day session. The first session was in March and produced 116 indictments all felonies. Most charges were liquor law violations and forgery. He suspects a windblown origin from a storm near Colbert bridge on Red River last Tuesday, noting edge wear and torn corner. A previous storm blew a house away and could have carried the picture fifteen miles.

Japanese Student Discusses Religions at Whitewright Talk
Rev. Tetsuo Hayashi, a Christian Japanese minister and SMU special worker, spoke at the Methodist Church in Whitewright. He traced Christianity in Japan, listed Shintoism Buddhism and Christianity as major faiths, and noted 80 million population with 35 million Shintoists, 15.5 million Buddhists, 220 thousand Christians, explaining why Christianity has little headway. He has taught at a Christian college, has been in the U S ten months, and will attend Columbia University next year.

Gas Contracts Taken Up by Community Gas Company
Ross S. Mason of the Community Gas Company from Dallas handled 251 consumer contracts in Whitewright. The company will sign in duplicate, giving the consumer a receipt showing the deposit. A new receipt will be issued after gas connections, with the deposit kept as payment guarantee. Construction start date not definite. materials will arrive soon. Surveyors delayed by weather, seven miles staked so far. The superintendent arrives to oversee work, with Whitewright as possible operations hub. A crew of about 50 men from Dodd City is expected in Whitewright in about two weeks if weather holds.

Child Is Cured of Leprosy at Carville Leprosarium
The New Orleans States reports a 5-year-old Minnesota girl dismissed from Carville leprosarium as cured after chalmoogra oil treatment. The child arrived with her mother two and a half years ago. she is adopted by a Minnesota family. Dr Isadore Dyer noted the treatment's efficacy and helped establish the program.
