P H Debardeleben a former Sylacauga Ala druggist filed a federal suit in Birmingham alleging personal injury from flogging carried out on April 19 of last year. He sues 22 residents of Sylacauga for damages totaling 250000. The action was filed in Federal District Court today.
A boatman recovered a bundle of 2000 pristine five dollar bills floating in the Potomac near the Virginia shore opposite Washington. He surrendered the $10,000 to the Department of Justice. It is unclear whether the money originated with the Bureau of Engraving and Printing or related to an inventory order in the bureau that handles bank notes and securities.
Sherman Texas April 10 The refining plant of the Buffalo Oil and Refining Company of this city passed into local citizens hands when Judge F E Wilcox of the Fifty ninth District Court approved the receiver sale. F M Thompson C C Mayhew and Bell F Smith head the buyers list It is said the plant will be improved and operated.
The Odeon Theatre program appears in this paper. After months of part time operation and a revival meeting that closed the show, management plans to run every night as long as business justifies it. Mr Lege aims to book only clean pictures to meet audience demand.

San Francisco April 12 A jury acquitted Roscoe C Fatty Arbuckle in a manslaughter case over Miss Virginia Rappe cooling after six minutes of deliberation The verdict was by acclamation and Arbuckle showed relief with his wife Mrs Minta Durfee Arbuckle sharing quiet emotions The court had warned against demonstrations and the jurors praised the verdict while some jurors contended injustice had been done and spoke of Arbuckle acting manfully

Officers elected: President E G Houghes Sherman, Vice President Homer Henley Honey Grove, Secretary Exie Brandrick Honey Grove, Treasurer Charlie Hill Denison, District Commissioner Mrs J R Mustain Honey Grove. A luncheon followed on the Sunday school floor. Bonham treated visitors well, and Whitewright Leaguers aim to match Bonham when the conference comes to Whitewright in July.

About seventy five young men attended Tuesday evening at the American Legion hall with twenty five present the prior week. The Tuesday night service moves to the Presbyterian Church and will be held there each week. R C Brown led the service and many gave short talks and prayers. Organizers predicted a larger turnout next Tuesday. The meeting was described as one of the best religious services in Whitewright.
A jail sentence story recounts a drunkenness case before a JP who used a mail order catalog as a law book. He fined a Black man 4.49 dollars to work 25 cents a day on roads. The marshal quips that luck might have saved him if the book had listed automobiles instead of pants.
A near cyclone struck south of town Saturday morning causing extensive damage. Barns at Taylor Autrey W Sanderson F Jones Willie Jarvis J H Alexander and the home of J Ashley were wrecked or damaged. Four barns were blown down near Orangeville and Ely area suffered. Walter Hileman fractured leg after being struck by debris while tying a horse. Total losses run to thousands with little insured. Early Monday another storm followed a similar path causing additional but lighter damage.
The funeral for Robert W. Painter was held Friday at 10 a.m. at his residence, conducted by Rev. G. M. McNeilly of the First Baptist Church. Interment followed at City Cemetery. Painter, born July 9, 1875, lived much of his life in the area, recently moving from Ely to Whitewright. He was a Baptist Church member and survived by his wife and daughters Mrs. W. D. Taylor, Mrs. R. B. Phillips, Miss Clara Painter, and Miss Dovie Mae Painter.
Denison April 10. The Katy Railroad locomotive shops, closed for over a month, will reopen April 17 per announcement from S K Tutt, superintendent of motive power.

James K Polk Hedgspeth aged 82 died at his home this morning following a two week illness. He was born in North Carolina on February 15 1840 and moved to Kentucky then Texas. He married Sallie V Badgett May 16 1872, leaving a daughter Jimmie Lee. Funeral Friday afternoon conducted by Rev J F Fender and Rev G M McNeilly. He expressed readiness to meet his Master. Surviving are his wife and daughter with condolences offered.
Bonham Texas April 10 During last Saturday's storm 1 000 little chickens were drowned on the chicken ranch of Ray Rogers southwest of Bonham about six miles The heavy wind wrecked the building housing them and the rain that followed destroyed the baby chicks.
