Miss Ora Mae Hall 75 former Whitewright grade school teacher died of leukemia at Parkland Hospital Dallas at 12 45 a m Tuesday after three months of illness. Funeral held 2 30 p m Wednesday at Barnhart Chapel with Dr Cecil E Berry and Rev J W Polk officiating. Burial Oak Hill Cemetery. She was born June 10 1881 in Comanche Texas and moved to Whitewright in 1918. Survived by one sister and multiple nieces and nephews.

Mrs Norman Butler flew to Arvin California for the funeral of her step father D Blanks who died Friday He was born north of Pilot Grove and lived in California for 12 years He leaves a wife and four children and was a Baptist Church member.

Funeral Services Held For Mrs Watson 81 In Leonard
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Church of Christ in Leonard for Mrs. R M Watson 81 with burial in Leonard Cemetery. She was the widow of Ray mond M Watson married March 14 1893 and leaves four daughters three sons two brothers thirty grandchildren thirty four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Mrs Watson belonged to the Church of Christ. Survivors include Eva Kuhn Ethel Williams Rubye Fuller Grace Samples Everett Watson Clifford Watson Ocie Watson Clyde Clevenger Mort Clevenger.

Texas Gov Signs Amendment Tightening Hot Check Law
Gov Price Daniel signed an amendment to Texas hot check law making employers liable for paying workers with bounced checks. The change closes a loophole by criminalizing use of worthless pay checks with fines up to 2000 dollars and 30 days in jail for under 50 dollars, and 2 to 10 years plus up to 10000 dollars for amounts over 50. Charles Lux of the Retail Merchants Association of Texas said the measure protects merchants and cites hundreds of prior cases and lost sums.
