Whitewright volunteers sponsor a charity barbecue at the American Legion Home from 6 to 9 p m with meals at 1 per adult and 50c for children. Proceeds fund needed fire department equipment and community help.
Ralph Yarborough secured 127 of 212 votes in Whitewright with Dies at 62 Hutcheson 22 and Bracewell 1. He carried Grayson County and statewide tally reached about 37 percent. City Commissioners Jack Meador and Charlie Ayres reelected with 171 and 166 votes respectively amid write ins.
Cub Scouts of Den 4 met Tuesday at the home of Mrs W L Bunch. Denner Eddie Wilson opened with the pledge. Clues were read by Keeper of the Buckskin Mickey Meadow. The theme Swiss Family Robinson explored shelter and food on a tropic island. Plaster wolf heads were painted for book ends. Refreshments were served by Larry Garner Keeper of the Buckskin.
Senator Byrd of Virginia described President Eisenhower’s budget as a spending spree totaling about 2.1 billion dollars for 26 new programs and 5.7 billion dollars for expansions. Neal Arnold Keasey 41 pleaded guilty to intoxication in Des Moines. Judge Ray Harrison gave a choice: write 7680 times I am a fellow that can't take that first drink or serve 30 days. Keasey chose writing, hoping it will help him stop drinking, noting 131 prior intoxication arrests since 1936.
Funeral services for Bud Wilson 87 retired farmer were held at Earnheart Chapel. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. He died at home Friday after a three month illness from a fractured hip. He had lived in Trenton and Whitewright and was a Blanton Chapel Methodist Church member for 42 years. Surviving are his wife two daughters three grandchildren two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 2 00 p m today at Barnheart Chapel for Mrs Lida L McIver 82 with Rev Neal T Jones and Rev J W Polk officiating. Burial is at Nevada Texas Cemetery. Died Tuesday in Greenville. Pallbearers named. Survived by three sons a daughter a sister a brother six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Calvary Baptist Church in Durant Oklahoma for 74 year old E. G. McFatridge who died Sunday after a three year illness. Burial followed in a cemetery near Paris. He is survived by his wife three daughters and four sons including Carl McFatridge of Whitewright.
