Baptist Revivals Across Grayson County Churches Begin
Revival meetings started last Sunday in 27 Grayson County Baptist Churches and run through April 20. In Whitewright services were altered as other towns also shift Sunday night worship. Mt. Vernon's Rev. John E. Whitt leads the local revival with Milford’s Rev. Ernest Massey as singer, with 10 am and 7 30 pm services daily. Additional areas feature Bethel with Rev. John R. Stephens and M. V. Williams, Pilot Grove with Rev. Ross Bourland and Bob Andrew, Bells with Rev. A L. Greenwalt and evangelist Glen Braswell and singer Perry Kite.

Eight famous quartets will headline free entertainment at the Red River Valley Livestock Exposition in Old Settlers Park Sherman starting Monday night April 14 with an 8 p m singing convention in the rodeo arena. Boxing Tournament Trophies Awarded by New Commissioners
The five night American Legion boxing event wrapped with trophy awards in the two divisions. Promoted by Preston Everheart Post No 225, the show drew a large crowd and benefited the post’s building fund. Dallas boxers from the Y M C A and local clubs added strong exhibitions and several bouts, with detailed results in the school boy and outsiders classes. Ten Calves in FFA Show Saturday
Whitewright High School FFA will stage its annual calf show Saturday on the trade lot across from the Frozen Food Locker plant. Ten calves will compete for $60 in prizes funded by local merchants. Washington reports that negotiations with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company broke down Wednesday night raising doubts about a quick settlement to the nationwide strike. Everett E. Carroll Fowler of Lakeview received a 100 scholarship in agricultural education for his 1946 cotton project near Memphis Texas. County Agent W B Houser announced the award sponsored by Anderson Clayton. Fowler’s 64acre bottom land demo yielded a gross 5400, expenses 440, and a net 4960, clearing 12.50 more per bale than his father. Sulfanilamide compound was discovered about 39 years ago.
