Antone Wanner was born in Switzerland on August 12 1833 and died in Laporte on Thursday June 9 at 10 30am after residing there since 1852. He married Verna Stamm in 1853 who died in 1881. six children were born to them with four surviving. He helped found the Laporte German M E church and funeral services were conducted there Sunday afternoon.

Death of Union Mills Fireman Struck at South Chicago Depot
James Schelley of Union Mills was killed by an Illinois Central train at the South Chicago depot while returning to his boarding house. He had worked in Chicago as a fireman and was on the 10 o clock homeward when he was struck. the exact details are unclear but it is believed he crossed the tracks and was confused by passing trains.
