A state prohibition committee plans a new tactic to sway voters by distributing ten bushels of voter pledges. Signed in presence of a Democrat and Republican witness, pledges promise five years of voting the prohibition ticket. The scheme aims to gain thousands of votes without harming the old parties.
Mrs H Newton of Decatur Alabama suffered three years of stomach and bowel pains with indigestion and liver and kidney trouble. The twenty fifth annual encampment of the Department of Indiana G A R will be held in Warsaw June 14 to 16 with nearly 1700 delegates. Warsaw and Winona host a 400 veteran committee preparing decorations illumination and fireworks displays and concerts. A Mardi Gras parade with brass bands will open the first night followed by a large fireworks show. Campfires will light the encampment evenings at locations in Warsaw and Winona Lake as reunion events for regimental associations.

Andrew J. Doolittle born near Erie Penn Sept 28 1840 died May 26 1904 of Laporte county resident life. He married Evelyn Pike Oct 3 1860 and had six children Ida Concannon Angie Loomis Florence Bessie Gaylord M Justin D. Also noted death of ex congressman Joseph B Cheadle May 28 at Frankfort and Stephen T Baker 92 at Buchanan with Fremont vote link.
A fourteen‑month‑old child of Mr and Mrs Frank Bushnell of near Morgan in this county was scalded to death last Wednesday when the child pulled the cork from a washing machine and hot suds poured over it.
Mrs Angeline Clader died at her daughter Mrs J D Wilson's home in Laporte on Tuesday. She is survived by three daughters and one son, plus three brothers and three sisters. Her husband Mr Clader had died eleven years earlier at Rolling Prairie.
Mrs Mary Sabin, aged 74, died at her daughter’s home in Laporte. Born in Germany she immigrated to the United States in 1852. She is survived by a husband, one son and two daughters.
Swan Anderson of near Chesterton traveled to Sweden for the summer, his first homeward visit in 42 years at age 76. John H. Beltz dies at Michigan City home on June 1 at 28 with a mother sister and four brothers surviving. John Nelson dies at Chesterton home on June 2 at 70. Talmage A. Boardman dies at Laporte on Tuesday at 22.
