Harvest work was delayed a couple of days due to rain. In Wa Keeney area rainfall measured 1.82 inches, benefiting corn and feed crops more than wheat. Farmers report harvest about half complete with mixed wheat yield and good grain color. labor remains available, soil ready for plowing, and timely threshing advised.
In Hays and Wa Keeney a series of advertisements touts the Edison machine and new designs from Communnsty and Yourex. Stores invite readers to inspect the lines and notes emphasize quality, sales appeal, and ongoing weeks of ads to drive purchases.
Oscar Guilbert of Banner neighborhood sustained serious internal injuries after a horse kick while attempting to harness the animal for harvest work. He was taken to Hays hospital in critical condition with Mrs Guilbert, his brother Walter, and Dr Herrick accompanying him. A veterinarian from Hays assisted earlier in the week.
