In Wa Keeney Kansas the October adjourned meeting finalized several road petitions. Roads numbered 98 to 101 were declared public necessities, with sections and townships specified, widths set at 40 to 50 feet, and damages awarded only in one case.
Western Kansas World notes its founding on March 3, 1879 with a published reference to a date near December 7, 1907.
The county board orders opening two new roads in Collyer and Wa Keeney townships after determining public necessity and utility. Road No. 102 runs from southeast section 3 to northeast section 15 and east to section 14 in township 11 range 23 west. Damages of $10 were awarded to Lois D. Rhoades for land taken where the road leaves the section line. Road No. 103 covers a route from northwest section 28 to west section lines and toward section 25, township 11 range 25, with two miles deemed impracticable and not public necessity. no damages awarded.
