Relay race planned for Fourth of July by two firms

Arrangements are under way for a 520 yard relay on July 4. Ellis Forde’s team includes Gordon Boyd Harry Miller Ed Preece and Charley McNerney while Harlin Meat Co signs N Lake Nelson Sloane and Emex. The race will be laid out and judged by the regular Fourth of July track committee.

County Commissioners Set Meeting for Monday

County commissioners, who adjourned on Wednesday, will reconvene Monday, July 1, to handle further official business. Chairman Saunders asks those with business or county bills to attend. The group aims to clear unfinished items and pay outstanding bills. a second meeting is planned for August.

Three-Month Extension Granted to Okanogan Canal Contractors

The interior secretary granted three month extensions to James A Barker Rederick W Rosenfelt and John W Douglas all of Pogue for finishing embankment work on the Okanogan main canal. Delays were caused by extreme cold and frozen ground delaying the original May 1 deadline. Wenatchee watches the project with interest as regional development and a railroad along the Columbia are seen as major benefits.

Painful Accident to Small Boy Injures Mc Creery Child

The seven year old son of the Mc Creery family on North Miller street burned his feet on red hot coals in an afternoon backyard fire. Neighbors carried him inside and Dr. Culp attended him. The doctor says the boy is not in danger and should recover.

Misunderstanding Over a Local Cayuse Ends in Swap

An amusing mixup in town involved a tenderfoot an agile cayuse and Constable Simmons. Melvin Krauss known as Chicago owned a horse that changed hands from Ping to Courtnay before Krauss returned and rode off on it. Simmons tracked Krauss through town and explanations followed.
