Malaga townsite sold for 500 dollars

On Tuesday last P. O. Vaale sold the Malaga townsite to George Rose for a consideration of 500 dollars. The Lockwood ditch broke last week causing damage to Lorenz Poprusil and P. O. Vaale.

Great Northern Hears Plans for Cascade Tunnel Power

The Great Northern Railroad aims to power trains through the Cascade tunnel using hydroelectric plants in Tumwater canyon. Officials estimate about eight thousand horsepower and a project cost near a million dollars, with construction to begin within six months of government approval. Manufacturing plants may rise locally, potentially doubling the payroll from $45,000 monthly.

Enterprise to Oroville Steamer Extension Planned

The Enterprise now runs between Brewster, Riverside and Okanogan and may reach Oroville next week if water holds. The Oroville Gazette reports the company plans to extend the trip to Oroville, carrying passengers this time and returning with freight for Riverside and downstream points.

Mammoth Fruit Ranch Planned Near Columbia Gorge

A. Van Holderbeke outlines plans for a 2000 acre peach orchard at Chelan Falls with 20 acres planted and one ton of seeds. L. McLean and Holderbeke supervise irrigation via a six inch pipe to a mile and a half, with side hills allocated to grapes and 500 acres for fruit. Limbs from eight year old Wenatchee trees show rich soil fertility with adequate moisture.
