Williams Family Reunion Held in Claude Texas June 8 10

Claude Texas hosted the 14th Williams reunion for Paul and Ruby Williams descendants from Texas and Oklahoma. Hosts included Gerald and Sharon Ray and families with guests from Houston Lubbock Abilene Snyder and Tulsa. A business meeting set next year’s gathering in Churchill Texas at the Schuler home.

Cattle on Feed May 1 1990 Up 1 Percent Nationwide

County Extension data show cattle and calves on feed May 1 totaling 8.18 million head in seven states, up one percent from a year earlier and four percent from 1988. April placements were 1.38 million, down 11 percent from 1989, signaling potential easing of supplies by late summer. Texas listed 1.97 million on feed, down four percent from 1989.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopts hunting rule changes

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission last week approved hunting regulation changes including a statewide ban on hunting deer with dogs effective Sept 1, 1990. It also sets archery season dates Oct 1 31 and general season Nov 3 1990 to Jan 6 1991, with regional mule and Trans-Pecos seasons. A new “doe days” antlerless harvest concept applies in 14 counties while eight counties revert to landowner issued permits. In Houston County west of Highway 19 the deer bag limit remains four with no more than two bucks.
