Aetna U.S. Healthcare and Humana exit the Texas market affecting about 167000 Texans with 130000 in Aetna and 37000 in Humana. State officials urge affected individuals to verify end dates and explore alternatives such as other HMOs, traditional Medicare, or private fee for service plans. Information on 2001 Medicare HMO options will be available via medicare.gov or 1-800-633-4227 starting mid July.
