Commissioners bar ATVs at Pioneer Park in Collingsworth County

In a regular meeting on Monday July 10 the Collingsworth County court banned ATVs at Pioneer Park and riverbed while keeping the camping fee at $5 amid RV club concerns over a possible rise to $10 in fall. The six Chaparall Sam's RVing members urged higher rates noting park traffic supports local businesses. The court cited black operating funds and workhouse maintenance funded by the county as reasons to retain the $5 fee. They warned future funding changes could lift maintenance costs from the park fund. The decision followed safety and landscape damage concerns from visitors, with the county treasurer also authorized to pay 1/5 to finish.
