Newell Grant McDaniel, 87, of Hollis died August 20, 2000 at home. Funeral held August 23 at Hollis Church of Christ. burial at Dodson Cemetery. Born July 25, 1913 in Hollis to William and Mabel McDaniel, he farmed all his life and married Ada Mae Burk in 1935. He served on local boards and belonged to the Church of Christ. Survived by wife Ada Mae, two sons and their families, a daughter, and a daughter-in-law. preceded in death by son Max Von in 1995.

Robert W Strong, pioneer family member of Collingsworth County, died in Amarillo on August 17 2000 at age 80. Services were held August 21 2000 at Washington Avenue Christian Church, burial Llano Cemetery. Surviving include daughter Dixie Fulton and son Don Strong, siblings, four grandchildren and two greats. Memorials to Washington Avenue Christian Church or a favorite charity.
