Workshop rewarding for Wellington teacher
Barbara Bartlett of Wellington Junior High Facilitator attended Camp Heritage at Turkey Texas July 31 to August 3. The three day retreat at Hotel Turkey offered 30 hours of advanced academic training on Texas heritage with tours to Valley of the Tears and Caprock Canyon State Park. Participants from Childress Clarendon Shamrock Lakeview and Wellington plan two retreats next summer and film work with Eyes of Texas. Bartlett called Camp Heritage rewarding and intends to return. upcoming Wellington Skyrockets scrimages listed for August 24 30 and 31 at Powell Field.

Wellington Junior High Football Equipment Dates Announced
Coach James Williams announced Wellington Junior High will issue equipment on Thursday August 23. Eighth grade boys receive gear at 10 a.m. seventh graders at 11 a.m. About 42 boys are expected. First games set for Thursday September 13 against Memphis with seventh grade at 4 30 p m and eighth grade at 6 p m.

DPS exams moved to area cities for state trooper hopefuls
Major W J Cawthon of the Texas DPS in Lubbock announced new testing dates for State Trooper hopefuls. Entrance tests occur on the second and fourth Wednesdays at DPS offices in Lubbock Amarillo and Wichita Falls starting at 8 00 a m. Applicants must be 20 to 35 years old good moral character physically fit a U S citizen and have 60 college hours or equivalent experience. Monthly pay during recruit academy is 1622 00 rising to 1869 00 on graduation and 2362 50 after the one year probation.

Lyme disease found in Texas signals growing risk

Experts say heightened awareness, camping activity, and deer tick vectors drive regional hotspots in northeast Texas near Dallas.
