Rich gold ore strike near Highland Mountain district
The Statesman reports a remarkable discovery at Highland Mountain in the Black Hornet district. Four mining locations were found by Mark Maynard, BR W. Being, and Mark Miner, with rich ore that could be worth ten thousand dollars a ton. D McKenzie of New York optioned the four claims for 100000 while paying 5000 down and 10000 every 90 days, as excitement spreads through town and more ore is brought in.

Great strike sparks rush to locate claims near bonanza
After the ore was shown the town buzzed with the great strike talk. Excitement rose through the night as several men began to stake claims close to the wonderful bonanza before midnight.
Brewer plans winter ore work at Thunder Mountain
The pioneer Curley Brewer plans winter development on Profile creek including a tunnel to tap a known ore body at depth. He owns prime properties in the camp and is active in mining in the district.
