Canal project near Dead Ox Flat district discussed

Tand 8 F. Stark & Co. and Malheur Butte Gas Co. close a contract with Wm. Harkins for a twelve mile canal from the Malheur river, 18 by 3 feet, shrunk to 16 feet near Weiser. Work must be completed by July 1903. A bridge to connect Oregon adjacent lands is urged to unlock cheap communication and spur regional development.

Sharai reports mining work quietly progressing in Seven Devils

£ W Sharai has worked on mining properties in the Seven Devils district for four or five months and returned home this week. He is allied with O H Wallop and A G Butterfield, with properties on Rapid river and Indian creek. He notes substantial summer activity but says it has been quiet and attracted little attention.

Warren Citizen Seeks Home as Mill Runs Full Pace

J. W. Wright of Warren plans relocating his family to Weiser for better schooling but has not found a house. He notes the Silver King 10 stamp mill runs day and night, with 45 workers and ample ore reserves. New Industry Ten to Be Installed Near Council

A large saw mill to be located on the Little Weiser river about six miles from Council reportedly to be run by water power. Machinery purchased and shipped, likely not set up until spring due to late season. Salt Lake investors have taken timber land in the area and will use a portable engine to harvest lumber for buildings and water power. A reservoir is being built to ensure water supply. The timber lands of Washington county are described as having a great future.
