Mines in Warren district attract operators from Weiser

LH Colwell, W A Colwell and Downell arrived from Tampa, pushing mining on War Eagle Mountain in the Warren district with a force from Weiser. Claims Bird, Camp Bird, Big Bird, D, Little El Frieda Nos 1 and 2 lie on the north slope. Operations will resume, with Dixon drill and later electric drill, moving toward a steady push. They may relocate to Weiser this fall. Idaho exhibits at the St Louis fair were praised but need stronger Warren district representation.

Dhration at Pollock Day Celebrated With Pony Races

A large crowd attended the Pollock event with spirited celebration. Notable incidents included a horse race where Alvin Freghley’s pony collided with Karl Yard’s mount, leaving one rider unconscious after a fall. Christian Church Preaching Next Sunday Service Times

The Christian church announces preaching next Sunday with morning service at 11:00 a.m. on the topic Lost Opportunities and an evening service at 8:30 p.m. on Many are Called But We are Chosen. Bound Over in Saloon Hold-Up Case

George Russell appeared for preliminary hearing before Judge Jeffreys after attempting a hold-up at Senate saloon. No witnesses supported the case beyond the accused, bound over to district court in 800 bail. Russell remained in jail as his bondsmen failed to pay. The alleged accomplice, known as Woe in jail, escaped custody and remains at large. a companion identified as Hwell’s pal also fled and has not been captured.

Fire destroys Pioneer Book Store in Boise blaze

A major early morning fire in Boise wipes out Pioneer Book Store, owned by K J Phelps. Estimated losses range from 25 000 to 30 000 with 15 000 to 16 000 insured. The adjacent balding property owned by James A Pinney suffered total loss except for side walls. Causes noted include fireworks stock, discarded cigarette or cigar, or a live wire. Fire department efficiency limited spread to adjacent buildings.

Groshen faced before Tri bate Judge Jeffries on a criminal complaint by George Phillips alleging threats to shoot and harm. He was placed under 500 bonds to keep the peace with bonds furnished. Both men from Crane Creek, the dispute over stolen horses led Groshen to threaten Phillips with a Winchester, prompting Phillips to seek arrest.

Morris to visit coast on extended pressure trip
