His companion was thrown and dragged, suffering extensive bruising but no broken bones. The buggy and harness were damaged, with the tongue broken loose and the top crushed.

Narrow escape from serious conflagration at Hotel Weiser
A fire threat at Hotel Weiser yesterday was averted when a warning by the night porter led to the discovery of a wire in a bedroom. A lighted cigar or match allegedly started the blaze, which was extinguished by fire extinguishers as a window allowed a breeze to aid the flames. The room had not been occupied for days, and neighbors aided the quick response amid smoke and alarm.
