Police Break Up Gang Style Fight at Waterworks Park

New Philadelphia police broke up a planned gang style fight involving 20 to 30 youths at Waterworks Park at 10 30 pm. Teens from Dover New Philadelphia Uhrichsville and Dennison were named. No arrests were made and names were recorded.

Vandals Open Fire Hydrants in Two Cities

Early today vandals opened fire hydrants in Dover and New Philadelphia. Dover police logged water flowing from hydrants on Tuscarawas Reeves Iron Wooster and Oxford avenues at 4 50 am. New Philadelphia police later answered a report at 3rd Drive and Fair Avenue NW. Mayor C LeMoyne Luthy warned harsh penalties for tampering with hydrants saying residents’ safety is at stake.

Joint Schooling Hurdle Toppled in Tuscarawas County

Dr. E. E. Holt, retiring state superintendent, will recommend Tuscarawas County joint vocational school for approval at the state board of education meeting Monday night. Also recommended are joint vocational schools in Stark and Lawrence counties. Two more hurdles remain: approval of federal funds in September and a county levy in November to finance the local share.
