Myers Waits Sentencing In Conflict of Interest Case

AKRON Ohio AP Ray J Myers former city superintendent of communications awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to violating state conflict of interest law. He withdrew his not guilty plea in a Common Pleas Court appearance before Judge Claude Emmons and admitted taking commissions from Radio Corporation of America for urging the city to buy equipment. Sentencing delayed for probation report. Myers free on $1000 bond. Car Explodes Kills Toledo Man After Crash

A Toledo businessman, Paul J. East, 41, was killed when his car exploded and caught fire following a four car collision that destroyed five gasoline pumps at a service station. East was hurled from the vehicle and died at the scene. Six others were treated at a hospital. none burned, but the blast rattled nearby homes.

Merchants Association Gives Second $100 Cash Prize

Three motorists have driving rights lifted

Theodore E. Crites, 24, of New Philadelphia, and Emmet Roth, 26, of New Philadelphia, lost licenses for six months under Ohio habitual traffic offender law after hearings in central district court. David Stinehour, 28, of Mineral City, also suspended six months with no driving privileges granted, lifted earlier in September for a driving while intoxicated charge.
