Death Calls Sudden to Mother Rider in 1916
Emma Epperson Rider died early Sunday morning after a brief illness following a Saturday auto trip with family. The Montgomery County native, 55, married to William Rider, left a husband, son, step-daughter, siblings, and many relatives. Funeral services were held at the Christian church with Rev. W. D. Headrick and interment at Masonic Cemetery.

White rat and large blue racer killed in field incident
Last Saturday while threshing wheat on the Arthur Henderson place west of town Fred Suttor killed a white rat found in a wheat shack after a fierce struggle to capture it. A large blue racer snake about five to six feet long was also killed at the same time.

Loyal Daughters Social at Quillens Home
The Loyal Daughters Baptist Sunday school class enjoyed a pleasant social at Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Quillen's northeast of town. Quillen gave the girls a ride on his hay rigging to the home where a program entertained them, refreshments followed, and the evening ended merrily. It is unclear whether the girls walked home or rode back by hayrigging.
