City Council Debates Sites for City Hall and Vaulted Taxes
The city council met with most members present except Frank Taggart and Solicitor McSweeney. A Vine street petition sought removal of a gasoline shed for nuisance, the street report noted no poll tax collected, and settlements offered in cases with Kipfer and Leib. Mayor’s September licenses and fines were reported, and a majority and minority report on city hall sites led to votes on Howard property versus Sprague property, both motions failing. Bills totaling 1020.88 were paid before adjournment.
