Lutheran Church Parsonage Welcomes New Minister and Local Notes

On Sabbath, the Lutheran Church welcomed its new minister who moved into the parsonage and preached. John Mishler and Fred Mishler work in Iowa at Akron for the Water project while John Boum moved into the Norris property. Roy Smith sprained his ankle playing football last week. Mrs. Wheaton visits the ME Parsonage with Mrs. Smith. Adam Brant and George G Harvey Swartz traveled to Akron on Saturday. Mrs. A Breneman stays with Miss Carrie Banmak who is very ill. Union Thanksgiving services will be held at the Lutheran Church with a sermon by Rev Naltzger.

Obituary: Samuel F P Lightcap Dies in Wooster at 69

Samuel Francia Lightcap, 69, died about 11 p.m. Tuesday at his East Liberty residence of Bright's disease. Born in Allen County, he lived in Wooster since 1845 and worked as a carpenter then drayer. Survived by wife and three children Frank Lightcap in Manila with the 19th U S Infantry, William Lightcap with Cincinnati Enquirer, and Miss Suete Lightcap at home. Funeral 7 p.m. today in Wooster Cemetery Interment to follow.

David Greaner left for Akron on Monday. Edward Winkler is seriously ill with typhoid fever. David McFadden spent Sunday with his uncle Rey Smith at North Lawrence. William Wallace of Pisin township visited his brother Anderson the past week. Miss Effie Campbell went to Washingtonville Ohio to visit her sister Mia Coppes. The grandchildren of David Yoder are visiting from Indiana.

Fever Patients Recover at Wayne County Home

Scarlet fever patients at the Wayne County Children's Home are recovering well with no new cases reported. An extra nurse has been discharged and credit is given to Supt. Jarvis and his wife for preventing spread. Samuel Peterman, 72, died at the county infirmary on Thursday morning November 9 and was buried there.

Usury Ruling Limits Building and Loan Charges in Ohio

Death of Mrs Eliza Ross on Vine Street

Mrs Eliza Ross aged 2 years 0 months 12 days was found dead in bed at her daughter Mrs O Sf Yocum’s Vine Street home Monday morning. She peacefully passed away in her sleep around 4 am without a struggle. A devout Presbyterian, she was born in Butler County Pa and lived in Wooster for 27 years. Surviving children include Geo Rosa of West Lebanon and several others. Funeral held at 1:30 pm Tuesday from the C M Yocum residence with burial in Wooster Cemetery.

Miss Mary Miller Dies at 70 in Orrville Home

Miss Mary Miller aged about 70 died Sunday noon at the Orrville home of barrister Mrs. Alex Postlewarth after a year of paralysis. Born in Westmoreland County Pennsylvania she lived in Wooster since the 1840s and recently moved from High Street with her sister to Orrville. The funeral was held Tuesday at 3 p.m. from her brother Captain Br F Miller’s home on South Market Street with interment in Wooster Cemetery.

Funeral of Mrs Sarah Shaffer Near Frederickaborg

The funeral for Mrs. Sarah Shaffer wife of William Shaffer four miles west of town was held Friday at 11 am from her home. Rev Travie officiated. A member of the Congregational church she had been in poor health for about a year. She leaves five children and her husband to mourn.

Dr Benjamin Boydston Dies at 90 in Warsaw Indiana

Dr Benjamin Boydston aged 90 years 7 months 11 days resident of Wayne County died October 24 at his home in Warsaw Indiana Born in Pennsylvania he moved to Wayne County in childhood was licensed to practice medicine by the Methodist Episcopal church at age 18 and pursued medicine for about fifty years.

Deafness Cannot Be Cured By Local Applications

An 1880s advertisement claims deafness is due to an inflamed mucous tube and catarrh and cannot be cured by local remedies. It promises a $100 reward for any case of deafness from catarrh cured by Hall's Catarrh Cure and invites readers to request free circulars from J J Cheney Co of Toledo Ohio.

Death of Lyman Franka at forty

Lyman Franka, son of Mrs. Israel Franke of Franklin Two, died at his home near Trinity Church after a long illness of consumption. He was aged 40 years 7 months and 10 days. Survived by his mother Mrs. Franks. The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Franklin Two Cemetery.

His Last Debauch Ends in Death of Daniel Adams

Daniel Adams of Fort Wayne Ava was found dead before 6 a.m. by Wm Klepper as he turned off gas lights near the Penn station. The body lay face down on a small rise, believed dead for hours, with coroner Wm H Faber indicating probable heart valvular disease. Adams, 39, survived by his wife four sons and his elderly father Jacob Adams, had attended a city opera event the prior evening and was last seen downtown after midnight in a drunken condition. The funeral was set for 2 p.m. today at his father’s residence, with community sympathy expressed for the family.

Death of John A Lawrence in Plain township aged 91

John A Lawrence of Plain township died at his daughter’s home in Plain township on Saturday forenoon aged 91 years, 9 months and 24 days after a hip fracture. Born in Middletown, Pa, he moved to Plain township in 1823 and married Sarah Roach in 1827, fathering eleven children, nine surviving. Services were held Tuesday morning at the family home with interment at Reedsburg. several children reside in Indiana, Nebraska and Michigan.

Death of Lottie G Merriman in Lind Washington

Mrs Lottie G Merriman of Lind Washington died Nov 6 at home after 23 years of marriage to J J Merriman postmaster of Applecreek. Married in Knox county 23 years ago they lived 10 years in Applecreek before moving to Washington Territory. She was praised for helpfulness and care in sickness. This marked the sixth death in 13 years for the family in Washington.

Word reached Wooster of the death of Mrs Harry McBride in Jersey City New Jersey. Mina Nellie Acisden formerly of Wooster aged about 67 had been ill with dropsy and heart trouble. Survived by husband two daughters Misses Jean and Lucy and her aged father. Funeral was held Monday in Jersey City with brief grave services conducted by Rev H W Lowry. body arrived in Wooster Tuesday.
