At the Wooster Baptist Association convention held at Salem last week the officers were elected. Rev J M Criswell of Alliance was named moderator, A L Williams of Newman secretary and treasurer, Rev O E Hall of Massillon clerk pro tem, Dr C W Pettar of Canton second vice president, and Mrs E Barr of Canton third silver president.
Unveiling of Cannon and Patriotic Music at the Square
The program for the square ceremony includes an opening address by Capt J H Kanke and a flag presentation by Sons and Daughters of Veterans. United Bands perform a patriotic concert after the unveiling with selections from Creston and Shreve bands, plus an America theme. A parade assignment and vehicle restrictions near the square are decided, with committee members named for prize awards.

A gas well south of town lit last Friday creating a fifty foot flame column as pressure released and causing strong fumes and loud roars. Daniel Snyder aged 80 died July 1 at his Madison Hill home after months of illness, survived by a second wife and several children. Funeral held July 4 at 10 AM. Real estate transfers filed with County Recorder L C Franks involve multiple deeds across Franklin Orrville West Salem and other townships with prices ranging from $325 to $4,500.

The Wooster City Board of Examiners will hold tests in the Third Ward School Building on July 10 and 11, 1902. After this, delinquent tax owners lose redemption rights as the law changes. Property will be sold similarly to mortgage foreclosure and transfer to the purchaser immediately.

Attempted death by own action by five cent German barber
Charles Groeser known as the five cent German barber of this city attempted to drown himself in the old channel near the Bell gas well south of town last Thursday morning. He was rescued by Messrs Bell and Odenkirk who took him to his home on E South street. He blamed trouble with his daughter Ceanie and her husband J B Savage of Pittsburg for the act. Ceanie said she would head the property back to her father and did so Thursday afternoon.
