Terrible Railroad Wreck Shocks Wooster Area

A morning collision near Millersburg involving a southbound excursion train from Akron for a Goodrich Rubber Works company picnic and a northbound B and O line train caused multiple injuries and at least one death. Names of injured and dead include Philip Rosemond and Elias Cochran of Akron, with other Akron and Ravenna residents among the wounded. The crash destroyed engines and baggage cars while passengers in regular coaches were mostly unharmed. Officials debate fault as both lines shared the same track and conflicting signals and orders complicate responsibility. Investigations note uncertainty over switching, registers, and depot actions as crowds gathered.
