Barn Fire Destroys Property Near Lattasburg
A barn belonging to farmer Harry Funk near Lattasburg burned Saturday night with the building and contents destroyed. The loss included five horses, a heifer, twenty chickens, 309 bushels of oats, 40 tons of hay and farming implements. Insurance reported at $800.

Rev D H Dever of Ashland died Jan 19 in Batemuen of African fever. A 1895 Wooster graduate, he studied at Princeton Theological Seminary in 1898 and had served as a missionary since 1898. He was a popular student among Wooster classmates.

Oyster supper and revival finish week in EMITAVILLA
Local notes report an oyster supper at widow Fetzer’s near Hoff church attended by young residents. The Methodist revival services ended Sunday night. Roy Fiks suffered a renewed arm fracture, while E Horst recovers from a horse kick and may be active again. Miss Zonah Caskey and her mother from Orrville visited Miss Eberly. Several youths attended the Teachers Institute and evening literary at No 6. F A Beerman left for Marion to take a new job. Mrs. Samuel Davidson of near Wooster and D Webner of Canton visited their mother Mrs C E Webner. H Kauffman, previously injured, expects further confinement after a fall.

Warehouse Fire Destroys Fombelle & Magaw Premises
A warehouse belonging to Fombelle and Magaw near the Overholt Will east of the Pennsylvania depot burned after discovery by two boys returning from a party. The fire destroyed 125 tons of hay, a wagon and buggy, and 600 chickens, with total losses around 25000 and 9800 insured. The mill also caught fire but was saved by firefighters. no ignition source found.

Freight brakeman severely injured in train fall near Wellersville
J O McFeeters of Allegheny Pennsylvania on Pennsylvania Lines fell from a moving train near Wellersville Monday morning. He suffered amputation of both feet below the knees and lost a great amount of blood. The conductor noticed him and sent a note to Wooster. he was taken to a local depot hospital, then moved to Menday Road hospital where Drs Stoll Ryall and Firestone treated him. He is conscious at times and his wife and mother are with him. He is a member of the Fifth United Presbyterian church of Allegheny.

William E Long, son of Fred Long formerly of Wooster, detained in Mansfield on a bigamy charge. He says he is guilty but claims a lifelong illness from a horse kick causes “guest spells” since age 12. His father supports his tale of a spell driven marriage to a second wife.

Farmers Meeting Inspires Progressive Farmers Club
The Progressive Farmers held their annual meeting on January 23 at Mrs Harriet M Coy home with many visitors. Mrs F J Heim presided at the piano, Miss Jenals McCoy recited, Master Warren Lytle aged four spoke, and Mr and Mrs F J Heims read Will Carleton’s poem. The program covered profitable handling of rough feed and crop choices, with Mr W W Bruce presenting a farm feed chart and championing light bran and clover as top dairy feeds. Officers were re-elected: W W Bruce president, M M Fowler vice president, Mrs Samuel Davidson secretary, Mrs Ezra Lytle corresponding secretary, D BR Firestone treasurer. A future meeting is set for Feb 27 at 10 am at F A McCracken’s with music, poetry, pruning and grafting talks, and discussions on future crops.
