Bold Theft in Wooster Stuns Local Residents

A bold robbery occurred in Wooster last week when David McClarran and Misa Jeppie tied their horse and sleigh in front of Proctor O Hairs drug store and later found Misa Jennie’s fur cape and Mr McClarran s machintosh missing. Police searched, a clue pointed to residents between Smithville and Oreilly likely to be landed, and witnesses described a man and a woman acting queer. The stolen goods valued about 50 dollars.

Change of Dates for Lectures and Concerts

Mr George Kennan who was sought after for February 17 in the University Lecture Course is now in Cuba and cannot meet his February engagements. His lecture is postponed and a new date will be announced soon. The Ridgaway Concert Co will come February 11 as first announced and Rev Geo O Lorimer will come February 16 instead of February 20. Farmer dragged home by rope in masked assault

Milleraburg Ohio January 16 Henry Kiefer a solitary Mechanic township farmer was held up by four masked men who demanded money a rope was placed around his neck he was dragged to his house stripped and burned over a red hot stove and tied to his bed while the house was searched only $25 was found by Cleveland Leader.

Shot in the Face at Deer Hunt in Dalton Ohio

Clarence Tedrow was struck in the forehead and right cheek by a stray shot during rabbit hunting near Dalton. The firing came as a rabbit bolted toward him. others in the party fired before he could fire. Wounds were painful but not dangerous.

Unconstitutional Change Delays Sheriff Acknowledgment

Tragic Scarlet Fever Toll in Local Town

On Sunday January 16 1899 May daughter of Mr and Mrs J M Bair died at 530 am after two days illness with scarlet fever Merlin and Mrs Bair also ill with the same disease and grippe respectively. The community offers sympathy as schools close and teachers fall ill. The K O T M to present officer election Wednesday evening.

Body Identified In Train Fatality Near Mangillon

The victim was Wo. Mays of near Applecreek aged about 20. He was killed by a Pennsylvania train last Wednesday night near Mangillon while searching for work. His father Jas Mays lives at Greenville and his mother at Margillon.

Oldest Mason in Ohio Major Urie Dies at 93

Aebland Ohio January 16 Major G W Urie died this morning aged 93 years. An early pioneer he held several county offices including first treasurer of Aebland county. He was considered the oldest Mason in Ohio. Burial planned for Wednesday by the Mansfield Commandery Knights Templar.
