Wayne County Prohibitionists Nominate Full County Ticket

The Wayne County Prohibitionists held a large Wooster convention nominating a full county ticket headed by Rev. H. A. Thompson. Delegates heard a keynote on prohibition, heard reports from township committees, and adopted resolutions endorsing the Springfield state platform and the county slate.

Memorial Services Honor General Grant in Wooster

In Wooster last Saturday citizens gathered to honor Ulysses S. Grant as his body lay in state in Riverside Park New York. A day of mourning featured a 38 gun salute at daylight on the University campus and a continuous volley of cannon fire through the day and night. The procession formed at the square with the Arion Band and local officials marching to the High School for a memorial program led by Rev. R A Gilfillan. Speakers included M C Rouch Judge Martin Welker and Hon A S McClure praising Grant as soldier statesman and model citizen.
