A five car Get Acquainted Special left Illinois Central at 7 13 am with nearly fifty Waterloo institutions on board headed for Fort Dodge and a 36 city tour. The train stopped in Wik Williams and other towns including New Hartford Parkersburg Aplington Austinville Ackley Iowa Falls Alden and Mason City with a schedule through Thursday. A Waterloo Military band played for each stop and a long list of local firms and officials accompanied the trip as sponsors and delegates.

Pittsburgh September 14 despite mystery over munitions at East Pittsburghs Westinghouse plant reliable authority says the United States government has placed a large order for a new six inch calibre shrapnel projectile. The shell is twenty one inches long and contains eight separate parts. The explosive is described as the most destructive yet devised by powdermakers.

Friends in Waterloo report Edward B. P. Phillips, formerly of Waterloo and then 308 Angeles, was seriously injured in an automobile accident about a week ago Sunday.
