Aplington Boy Dies in Fort Riley Hospital
Walter Koester of Aplington died at Fort Riley Army Hospital from pneumonia at about 25 years old. A graduate of Aplington High School and ISTC Cedar Falls, he taught at St. Charles South Dakota last year and entered the army this summer. He leaves his parents Rev and Mrs D Koester four sisters and two brothers. Remains expected to arrive in a few days.

Streetcar workers threaten to quit in Des Moines
Des Moines city railway employes say they will quit next Monday if the war labor board in Washington does not act.
