Humboldt Farmers Co operative association reports 1917 profits of 12,786 on 10,740 capital, 128 percent return, plus 25 percent cash dividends and a 200 percent stock dividend. Over 400,000 dollars of grain and materials handled with a small profit on turnover. Established about 15 years ago, with officers and directors re elected.
Camp Dodge forms a general court martial board to hear cases of new increment men who refused to undergo operations for physical defects. May force operations. those who refuse again face trial. Discharge policy changed during wartime. thirteen Lowans recommended for discharge for disability. Board includes Lieut Col Rathjen, Maj Olmstead, Capt Smith, and others. Soullen as judge advocate.
Charles City Iowa March 19 The Floyd county farm bureau completed a seed corn and hog survey under county agent C W Dickinson. Findings show 1732 farmers plan to test seed corn, a shortage of 537 bushels, 491 322 acres to be planted, $3 250 hogs raised, average per farm rising from 7 08 to 8 74 hogs or 23 4 percent.
Negotiations complete for a $45,000 corn canning factory to be built by Western Grocery of Marshalltown at Roland Iowa with 100,000 case capacity. A railroad spur will be built, work starts immediately, target finish for corn pack by August 1. A cooperative farmers grain company with $50,000 capital to be organized, following a Friday meeting addressed by L. G. Foster, government agent with Iowa State College extension.
William Wray, known as a pioneer steamboat man who built Wray's Landing and founded Maneawa Park, died yesterday in Council Bluffs. Wray's Landing, a major river landing since the 1860s, was left inland four miles when the river altered course in 1881.

A bustling Delaware court calendar featured a juried case against F H Dury and related testimony about ownership of a note for about 1000 dollars. Other matters included a juvenile car theft arraignment, a guilty plea for a building burglary, and a 1u year reformatory sentence with parole. The Red Cross Belgium relief drive received club support and a plan for resolutions on the Non Partisan league. A.M. Cloud and HS CL Leeds were chosen delegates to Chicago Chamber of Commerce events.
