Dunn, 20, was described as a son to Mrs Nancy J Dunn and left a home with his dog Major to comfort his grandmother, while Bracelin was the son of Mr and Mrs Patrick Bracelin of Norwalk Iowa.
Ross R. Mowry of Newton announces candidacy for Congress in the Sixth District challenging incumbent C. W. Ramseyer of Bloomfield. He accuses Ramseyer’s votes of risking national paralysis in wartime and condemns the opposing nation as lacking virtue and courage.

Davenport March 18 government officers seized two large automobiles loaded with liquor near Rock Island arsenal. Frank Cooper and James Foley of Des Moines along with Arthur J. Morris of Davenport were stopped at the government viaduct. Officers took nine hundred pints of whisky and ten quarts of beer and confiscated the cars. The three men await hearing before Commissioner Walker.
Fred A. Granzow, a Mason City furniture dealer, was brought before Deputy Federal Clerk James Martin in Fort Dodge on espionage charges. He faces claims of disloyal statements against the United States and the Red Cross, and obstruction of military recruiting. Granzow waived preliminary hearing with $1,500 bond. he had reportedly offered 5 percent of a recent sale to the Red Cross, which he turned over upon arrest. His attorney, James E. Williams, says Granzow denies disloyal statements and claims to have contributed to war funds.
Dubuque Iowa March 18 Dr W C Buel the English specialist and C E Wells are jailed on indictments for cheating by false pretenses. Arrest followed grand jury action earlier in the day with warrants issued. Both men held on bonds of 1250 dollars each.
