Dubuque Iowa March 24 Alien registrants warned by Marshal Moore's office to obtain signed permits before changing residence. Enemies who move without notifying authorities face possible internment for the war. Reports cite aliens who failed to register after moving from Rock Island Illinois to Dubuque and other towns.
In Towan Beaten and Driven from Town at Little Rock Arkansas March 20 a wealthy elevator owner R H Sietsema was beaten and driven out after accusations he is pro German and alleged seditions. Bloodhounds were sought as a crowd gathered outside his offices. Jerard Arends and John Arends detained. two others accused of sedition returned from Dubuque. Federal agents to investigate.
Butler County officials voters and bankers gathered to organize the third liberty loan drive. W F Ray chaired the meeting with district organizer Ewit Rasmussen presenting a county plan to issue two cards per taxpayer showing past contributions and estimated net worth to determine subscription amounts. Banks unanimously approved funding for the campaign with a levy of one dollar per one thousand dollars of capital and surplus.
A groom, Marek Yu Raymond W. Hall, was subjected to a masked attack after an exemption plea on February 20 stirred local anger. He was abducted near Minerva, driven to Marietta bridge, daubed in red and yellow paint, and forced home. Hall, married March 22 in Des Moines to Miss Grace Johns, alleges threats from neighbors and plans to present the matter to the grand jury.

Sergt. Jew Wren, born in Clear Lake and later known as Lew Kirby, died of wounds suffered in France while serving with the Canadian contingent in the British expeditionary forces. He had a vaudeville career as the "Whistling Wreng" and had recently been in hospital in Winnipeg before his death.

In Kingsley on March 20 a Red Cross sale fetched a Liberty Bond for 15,000 dollars, bid by 2150 men at 100 dollars each, for the mother of Edward Nash who fell in France. A second bond went to Rev E A Doreen of Akron who planned to send it to Australia for a grave marker. Other donations included a Kaiser’s target sold for 1,509 dollars and a goose feathered ornament sold for 600 dollars.

Township and school district chairs organize committees to conduct canva ns. Mrs George Spangler Winthrow chairs women's work with Mrs Charles Rosemond as vice chair. In Dodge, Glen Sparrowgrove seaman is dead of pneumonia in Norfolk hospital. Shipments to Fort Dodge for burial.
