Bond Buyer Helps Farmer Evades Draft Case
Abe Moore of Van Meter Iowa was found guilty of attempting to incite insurrection against the draft but was released after a $2.50 fine. The judge ordered the fine reduced to $-1,596 if Moore bought $1,000 in Liberty bonds, and Moore later paid $1,500 in two $500 bonds at the federal clerk’s office. Judge Wade entered an order modifying the judgment.
