Six Arrests by Waterloo Police by Noon Today
By noon today Waterloo police had arrested six suspects most of them vagrants. Hearings will be held tomorrow, and officials expect fewer arrests than last year’s fourty during show day. James Mettler Shot in Greene Arrest Incident
Greene, June 27. James Mettler, 25, died in hospital at 10:36 AM from a gunshot wound received during an arrest at the depot after a street altercation. Marshal Young shot him as he tried to board a train. Mettler, a Greene native, died with family at his bedside.
