Chautauqua grounds near readiness for opening with Miles directing stage and seating being cleaned and decorated. German Synod Ends in Wisconsin After Brief Meeting

The Northwestern Synod of the German Lutheran church closed its session in Ta Crosse Wisconsin with a brief business meeting. About four hundred delegates then left for home. In Viterbo Italy the Camorra murder trial was adjourned until Friday after a furor disrupted proceedings.

Fined for Striking Woman Forcing Change of Plans

Lewis Larsen of Gilbertville was fined 1 and costs totaling 10 after being found guilty in Justice Knapp's court of striking Mrs. Thomas, a Gilbertville hotel keeper and former roomer. The verdict cancels his Waterloo circus visit as he pays the fine and notes the deputy sheriff will attend in his stead.

Evangelist Dr Graves Dies by Own Action in Los Angeles

Waterloo readers recall Dr Graves who with Rev Leland led a revival at First Baptist Church. He was 82, had not been well, and his death in Los Angeles last week was reported by the Palo Alto Tribune. He preached in Emmetsburg and the middle west.

Hagenbeck-Wallace show suit files damage claim

The Hagenback-Wallace shows face a suit in India county court over damage to a Bluff Street brick store facade. J J. Bickley claims $200 in damages from tacks scattered by a company employee during June 7 decorations. Judge Platt ordered $200 attachment as a guarantee of appearance. Charles S. Bickley acted for the plaintiff.

Partridge Enthroned as Episcopal Bishop of Kansas City

The Rt. Rev. Sidney Partridge, formerly bishop of Kyoto, Japan, was enthroned today as bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Diocese of Kansas City. Bishops from Missouri Illinois Iowa and other states attended this historic ceremony. Partridge, 54, arrives after 26 years in the Orient and will lead a new era for the diocese amid public festivities.

American Yacht Bibelot Wins Fourth Sonderklass Race

The American yacht Bibelot owned by H. P. Whitney of the New York Yacht Club and R. W. Emmons of the Eastern Yacht Club won the fourth race in the Sonderklass international series in Kiel Germany. Police seek owner of a Ford automobile involved in a collision with a boulevard light stand on Fifth Street East, causing two breakages.
