Circus Arrived Late in Waterloo From Motive Power Delay
The circus train reached Waterloo in the morning causing a postponed parade and disappointed crowds. Officials blamed insufficient motive power supplied by the L railroad, with light engines and a passenger engine used to push trains over a grade. Visitors from nearby towns arrived as tents and cook tents went up, and performances including the Tasmania troupe and the Nelson family drew cheers in the afternoon show.
