Accused Slayer of Mason City Woman Had Wanted Loan

Aplington Man Killed When Team Struck by Train
Aplington Va Jan 15 John H DeVrins was killed Saturday noon when his horse team was struck by an eastbound freight train. He was thrown against a mail crane and died from a broken neck. Two horses died, one crushed beneath the train. DeVrins had hauled coal and worked for Harker Bros implement dealers and in the grain trade. He belonged to Modern Woodmen, survived by a widow and two daughters Martha Trimble Clear Lake and Ellie Harn Waterloo.

Ames Iowa Jan 11 A fake hog cholera cure pushed for sale in Iowa has been exposed by United States Department of Agriculture agents. Packages seized in Washington show no curative ingredients. President S A Pearson of Iowa State College notes many farmers bought it, wasting pork and money. Chemists found a brown mix of ground vegetable store salt iron phosphate nitrate of soda. No known cure exists, tests show none effective, only Niles Dorset serum horminizes hogs against cholera.

His Sons Search for Bigamist 25 Years
Bellevue Illinois January 15 The mills of the gods grind slow but they grind exceedingly fine. George McCormack a former Hanover Wisconsin resident now 67 is under arrest in Chicago on bigamy charges. Twenty five years ago he left his home deserting his wife and two sons. The sons William and Arthur McCormack confronted him in the Chicago prosecuting attorney office and identified him. He admitted having relatives in Hanover but said he had never seen his sons before. William urged the father to tell the truth ending a long search.
