McGregor Iowa February 26 The largest abstract in Clayton county has been drawn for F C Parnell by A J Palas of Elkader. Sixty typewritten pages, 150 recorded instruments, 300 examined, $130.42 paid. Abandoned Hardin townsite between Luana and Postville once thrived as a midway hub with five stores, blacksmiths, hotel and homes. The railroad’s move two and a half miles away ended Hardin, leaving only a church amid former grassed streets. Thirty-five years ago Nelson McGee bought 38 acres at the site. a clear title now required resolving overlapping surveys and additions.
