Patro nan Selg Whitman known as Ajax, a famed New York City strong man cop, retires after 26 years. Injured in harness to stop runaway horses, commended seven times, to receive a 950 dollar yearly pension. He helped form a strong arm squad to dismantle Harlem gangsters, and performed feats such as lifting a 12 ton freight car and a hogshead of water with his teeth. He reportedly lifted a 1,030 pound dumbbell with his teeth.
