Cedar Falls Hears Large Growth Plans and New Buildings
Cedar Falls anticipates a wave of development in 1917 including a $100000 federal post office at Third and Washington, new Viking Pump and Iowa Gate company plants, street paving, a proposed new city hall, and several up to date residences. The Evangelical Association buys land east of the city for an auditorium and outbuildings, with Cedar Valley railway expansion rumored. Also planned are a concrete bridge, bathing beach, and a large public school building possibly by 1933. Masons report growth with Blue Lodge and chapter additions and Baldwin Commandery knightings. The Cedar Falls Commercial Club reports 3268 members and a year of active campaigns and remodeling.
