Build Quarters for American Air Mechanics
The Associated Press reports extensive training quarters will be built in England and France for a corps of thousands of mechanics to repair and care for American airmen’s machines. Washington is asked to send 13 000 brick layers and carpenters plus laborers for construction at the training camps. After England, builders move to France. The plan aims to ensure abundant skilled mechanics to aid air power’s success. Flying schools for Italian aviators will be established in the United States. Expeditionary HQ recommends Italian model aircraft and engine production, training, feeding and housing pilots, to be financed by Italy. The program to begin mid 1915.
