Camp Cody New Mexico December 24 The deaths of three Iowa soldiers are reported. Walter Wandling of Troop 4 First Iowa Cavalry died in the base hospital after efforts to prolong his life his parents Mr and Mrs G A Wandling of Marengo Iowa were en route. Howard GC Cessna son of Mrs Cessna of Albia Indiana died in the base hospital from pneumonia. Russell G Macy of Synaridle Iowa died in the base hospital from pneumonia and will be sent to his father Elgar Macy.

In Clarksville Iowa on December 24 Arthur Wedeking fourteen year old son of Mr and Mrs Carl Wedeking was badly burned on both hands and face when trimming on a Christmas program at Shady Dell schoolhouse four and one half miles northwest of town.
