Scotch Forfeited and Jail for Gowl in Hotel Raid
Finding of five quarts of Scotch in rooms 104 and 406 of the Russell-Lumison hotel led to a 30 day jail sentence for Jack Gowl of Chicago after a guilty plea to illegal possession of intoxicating liquor. Ed Lechner and G I McKlroy of Cedar Falls were fined 100 dollars and costs each. judge suspended 50 dollars of each fine. A second charge against Gant for maintaining a liquor nuisance was dismissed. The Seater was forfeited. Officers praised Russell-Lamson management for cooperation.
